7 stress busters
March 13th, 2009We have put together 7 stress busters to help relieve you of stress common this time of year. Did you know that laughter is a great stress buster?
- Stretching- stretching for just a few minutes can help relieve you of muscular tension from stress. Both pilates and Yoga are great at stress busting for this very reason.
- Massage- one of the best stress relievers. Massage helps reduce muscular tension and the use of oils like lavender oil whilst having massage really helps relieve stress.
- Talk to yourself- sit somewhere quiet and repeat the following words to yourself “I am ok” “Everything will be fine” and carry on saying words of encouragement and relaxation to yourself and this will help you regain control.
- Go for a walk- walking helps boost endorphins the feel good hormone that is great at relieving stress. Also by walking it allows you to get away from your stressful times or situations the same as going for a drive can make you feel as you are on the move.
- Animals- get a pet. Pets are great at relieving stress and dogs have been proven to reduce blood pressure and heart problems of their owners.
- Cleaning- cleaning your house is a great stress buster as it allows you to zone out. Gardening is the same and many people into gardening say they got into it for stress relief reasons.
- Laughter- laughter gives our immune system a boost and people who laugh alot tend to live alot better lives. In the USA you now see laughter classes where people sit around laughing as a form of relaxation. This hasn’t taken off in the UK but I am sure it works. This started off initially in eastern countries where it was very popular and progressed over to the western world.
