March 22nd, 2010
You may think sweating it out is the best way to cure a hangover, but here are some reasons why this may not be a great idea.
- Dehydration- alcohol is a diuretic meaning it causes the body to lose more water than it takes on. Because alcohol is a diuretic it can cause you to get a dry mouth, headaches and nausea. Exercise and sweating can actually cause you to lose even more water.
- Poor concentration- alcohol tends to make you more clumsy so you could easily injure yourself in this state.
- General tiredness- exercise puts stress on the body, when your hung over and feel bad you need rest to recover, you dont want put more stress on the body.
Instead of working out when hungover, eat well, drink lots of water and get plenty of rest. If you really do fancy a workout then do some light stretching and possibly a very light workout.
