A personal trainers advice on getting a good office chair

November 18th, 2008

The chair you sit in at the office is the most important bit of furniture to purchase as this is where your back is supported for many hours.  I recently just purchased a Herman Miller Aeron chair for my home use.  People often buy a cheap chair as they think its only a chair as long as it feels comfy thats fine, thats wrong!  A chair needs to support the lower back to ensure your spine is in a good position through out the day reducing bad back pains and bad neck pains.  Most people who visit masseuses for back related problems are sitting badly at work.  The worst way to sit is with a laptop resting on your lap, the head is tilted down and the back hunched over.  Get your self a good chair the money you spend on it is investing in your back, like personal training is investing in your body.  The Herman Miller Aeron is possibly the best posture chair you can buy for your back, the chair is priced at £750 but you can get them second hand for around £350 well worth the investment.  The Herman Miller Mirra is a cheaper model still an amazing chair for the back.  On Wigmore street there are a few specialist shops for chairs that help support the back and posture but are quite pricey and you can get the same chairs on the net for cheaper, although they do offer some great advice on which chair suits your body and budget.
