Alain Robert on his training and diet for climbing tall buildings

February 16th, 2009

Already it has been three decades that I have been climbing, training, and being on a strict diet.  I’m still continuing to climb every two days in my house where I have a nice climbing wall, 40 square meters on my ceiling. Usually my session is no more than one hour, which I’m staying completely upside down navigating like Spiderman for about 5 to 6 minutes, then I rest for the same duration and I start all over again until the end of that one hour. Then the next day I do need to rest as that kind of training is really tiring for the fingers and they can easily get injured. Having a good diet is nearly as important. Drinking a lot of water and eating light is what I do. Salad and fruit with on the top of it some proteins such as fish, eggs or Soya. Before a difficult ascent it is always good to eat some pasta or some rice maybe but the main key is still the mental one. Then you do need to be ready for the climb day, but since I have been climbing for so long it is very much in my mind and my genes. Next step for me is an ascent in Hong Kong. I’m now heading to Hong Kong from Singapore.  I will be climbing on Thursday.

Could you give me the exact names of the food for the climbers diet? What he eats in the morning, afternoon and evening.
