What Personal Trainers say about Eating out healthily

Eating out in a restaurant or carrying your lunch to work does not mean you have to eat in a less healthy way. In restaurants, you should avoid battered food, sauces with a cream or cheese base, pies, bacon and sausage. Go after lean meat, grilled fish or chicken, foods that have been stir-fried or steamed and fresh salads with the dressing on the side. The side dressing lets you control the amount of dressing you have with the salad. Avoid buttery dishes, fried foods, food with a high salt content, pastries and croissants. Most deep fried foods should be avoided and replaced with grilled foods, boiled foods and poached food.

Fresh vegetables and fruit are always solid choices and they can be carried to work in a brown bag or lunch pail. Tomatoes are especially good as they are tasty and have medicinal benefits as well.

Wine with a meal is a good choice as long as it is consumed in moderation. Talk with your personal trainer to get further suggestions that are not on obvious lists of good foods to eat when away from home. The point of this article is you can eat in a healthy way when you are eating out and away from your standard fare.
