What Personal Trainers say about School for Champions
Urine is a terrific indicator of the health of any person. It gives many signals of good health or a health changing condition. Urine is a combination of water and dissolved body waste products. The color of the urine and test run on the urine can be of help in discovering exactly what is going on in the body. Different colors can mean different things to the physician or the lab technician. Normal urine is pale yellow in a healthy person. Perfectly clear urine can result from the intake of too much water or excessive amounts of coffee or beer. When these excessive liquids have passed through the body, the urine will return to the pale yellow color. Excess sweating can make the urine very yellow and also indicates the person is not taking in enough water. Dark yellow urine can be an indication of jaundice or a liver problem. Orange colored urine can be from eating carrots in excess like from a juicer. Also it can result from the intake of too much vitamin C. Brown urine has possible multiple causes that are copper poisoning, liver disease, hepatitis or melanoma cancer. Recent taking of a laxative or eating java beans can turn the urine brown. Green urine can result from urinary tract infection or the taking of some drugs. A bright green color could mean excessive intake of B vitamins. Blue urine can mean the presence of pseudomonas bacterial infection. Excess calcium intake can make the urine blue also. A red tint can be blood, which would be serious, or the intake of certain foods that turn the urine red. Lead or mercury poisoning can turn the urine red and if you have reason to believe this to be the case, you should consult with a doctor.
Any time you have a drastic change in color that you cannot rule out due to a food or candy or pills that you have ingested, it may be time to see a doctor. If your urine has a foul odor this also is reason to suspect something is up.
Urine color and testing is a marvelous way to look into the functioning of your body and can be an early sign of that something is amiss. Most physicians routinely order a urine test as part of their yearly exam so they can look for any abnormal conditions or illnesses. It is used to discover prostate cancer in men and diabetes in all patients. It can also help in pointing to heart or kidney problems that may be just starting and have not given off any other signs.
Your personal trainer can also be a source of more information on why urine specimens are taken for examinations. These samples are routinely done for drug testing as part of the hiring process for many companies. If you know you are going to have a urine test, try to eat a normal diet before testing. Urine testing has gone hi-tech and is not easily fooled these days.
