Trainer Questions – What do you not like about the personal training industry?

October 3rd, 2009

Rob – the amount of unreliable, unqualified, inexperienced personal trainers involved in the industry.  There are allot of people involved in the industry that work as personal trainers as they think they can make allot of money from working very little hours and come into the industry with very little qualifications just a 1 week course such as exercise to music.  They tend to turn up late to personal training sessions all the time and are very unreliable generally.  Gyms take on lots of guys like these as they want as many trainers they can get paying rent and the clients are those who suffer.  Be very careful who you pick as a personal trainer especially when hiring a personal trainer from a commercial gym like Fitness First and La Fitness don’t believe for a second they have heavily vetted them, they haven’t.

Trainer Questions – What is the best thing about being a personal trainer?

October 2nd, 2009

Rob – what I like most about being a personal trainer is making a change to someone’s physical shape that it impacts the whole of their life.  Often people with low confidence who have never been into fitness come into the gym, with regular training they build a great body and their confidence dramatically increases.  If you are in poor shape, slouched over and lethargic how do you think you are going to view life and how do you think people are going to view you.  Where as if you are in good shape with good posture and a positive outlook on life then people are going to view you in a positive way, simple.

Trainer questions – What made you become a personal trainer?

October 2nd, 2009

Rob – I wanted to become a personal trainer ever since I got into bodybuilding.  When I was bodybuilding it was taking up so much of my life I wanted a job that I could fit around it and being a personal trainer was the best job for that.  Also, because I was reading and learning so much about bodybuilding and getting great results from my training I thought it would be easy to teach other people how to benefit from muscular strength and size gains.  I also read an article in the paper saying that personal training was becoming a highly profitable job and a good way to make a living so seemed like the career for me.
