Diet during the winter period

December 14th, 2009

How does your diet change during the winter period?  I know that when it gets cold I tend to eat a lot more.  In the summer I often find it hard to eat and sometimes end up eating as little as 2 meals a day.  Diet is easily affected by the weather.  When it’s cold we tend to spend more time in doors so end up snacking where as in the summer we are out in the sun.  In winter we try and eat food that keeps us warm where as in the summer we want cooling food.  We don’t want to eat a hot steak and ale pie (not very healthy!) in the summer but in the winter this would go down great.  Watch your food intake in winter as we often eat a lot of sugar to keep us warm and energetic as we get cold and sluggish in the winter and as your indoors a lot you may be snacking a lot more than you realize.
