Get a body like Brad Pitt
July 23rd, 2009
If you’re very thin or have a hard time gaining muscle, or if you’re simply looking to lose some excess body fat, then there are two simple rules to follow to get you going in the right direction to getting the Brad Pitt body.
1. Strength training for muscle mass
If you’re looking at getting a body like Brad Pitt then you need to make strength training a large part of your routine – a good personal trainer can help you with this. Those out there who have trouble gaining muscle mass then my advice is to stick to free-weight compound exercises like squats, curls, chest press and dips maximize muscle growth and work multiple muscle groups at the same time.
2. Fat Burning Diet
Reducing your body fat percentage is key to achieving that ripped look. Essentially, everyone has the same muscular structure; it’s just that excess body fat tends to hide it on most of us.
Cutting out unnecessary saturated fats, particularly found in fast and processed foods, and focusing your diet around fresh lean meats, fruits, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates like porridge is a big step in the right direction. You want to take extra care with your diet, and I would recommend you define your goals first and then focus on them. In other words, it’s best to gain muscle mass first and then cut away the excess body fat afterwards.
In this way you’d first be focusing on a weight gain diet where you are consuming significantly more calories to add bulk, and then can begin to cut away the excess body fat when you’ve reached your desired size. Cutting back on your calories too early can hamper your muscle growth.
Muscle helps your body to metabolise fat faster, so it makes sense to do it in this order.
