August 27th, 2009

Boxers are known for having a great physique, boxers are not only muscular but low fat to.  Boxers spend a lot more time doing cardio than they do weights as this is what keeps them going round after round.  If you want a physique like a boxers you are going to have to put in the cardio.

What should my workout regime be like?

To have a body like a boxer cardio is essential.  Do 40 minutes on the treadmill twice a week at a slow jogging pace to burn fat.  Start skipping for 5 minutes at the end of each workout you do.  Obviously boxing is a great way to get a body like a boxer, start doing some pad work with your personal trainer or do rounds on the bag.  Boxers tend to have great obliques a muscle that most people who go to the gym don’t bother working out, they develop these from all the twists when punching and doing lots of ab work with twisting at the top.  Boxers concentrate on obliques strengthening their sides protecting them from punches to the sides.  Make sure you are doing at least 100 sit ups at the end of every workout and include leg raises with a partner throwing your legs down.

What should my diet be like?

High protein, low fat, medium carbs.  Get your protein from eggs, meat and fish as well as daily protein shakes.  Get your carbs from rice and potatoes don’t neglect carbs you need these to build muscle and give you the energy for your workouts.
