Paddy Doyle on his training and nutrition

February 27th, 2009

When training for a fitness endurance record depending on what category it is, I can sometimes train up to 4 hours, the training would consist of hill walking carrying a back pack, gym bag work, sparring and circuit training. My daily diet consists of corn meat, chicken, fish, green vegetables, rice and pasta.

Any athlete who wants to improve their press ups workout, should ideally keep their weight down, start off with simple low reps for example 5 sets of 20 reps, building up to 100 press ups. Then build up as you progress. Always have a days rest between your press ups training, which will give your arms a rest.

When I prepare for a World Record I always perceive that I have won the challenge, to a lot of sports coaches this is named goal setting. Basically you have to vision in your mind that you have passed the finish line. Plus a lot of the hard training is done prior in the gym which if all goes well, installs confidence. To be successful as a endurance athlete you also must have a team around you, such as training partners, sports therapist, osteopath and qualified coaches.
