Ready to drink protein shakes
February 3rd, 2010
Ready to drink protein shakes are very popular now as people are not wanting to spend time mixing up protein shakes that are not only time consuming but messy. There are a huge choice of ready to drink protein shakes currently on the market but 90% of them I would personally avoid. Keep away from protein shakes that are sitting there pre mixed. This includes all protein shakes in a carton or bottle such as Weider shakes, Multipower shakes and Met Rx shakes. When protein has been pre mixed and left there for weeks the protein will not be absorbed at its best into the body, hence the rise of ready to drink protein shakes just as a powder sitting in a bottle that you add water to. These powder forms are good but pricey considering all you need to do is buy a tub of protein and put your own scoop of powder in an empty bottle and add water, you could do this for 50p instead of £3.50. The protein shakes that I am actually a fan of at the moment are the Pro slam shakes as they are so fast and easy although an already mixed protein shake, which I am certainly not usually a fan of, I have gotten good results from these. Some people love ready to drink protein shakes for ease of use and feel they work for them but I am not a big fan. Like with all supplements when I write a review of them you should not necessarily avoid it like the plague but take note of my advice and try it for yourself. You may find it works for you so by all means stick to it, often with sports supplements we need to try different ones ourselves and not go entirely on others peoples opinions as we may like the taste, they may hate the taste, they may say there is too much protein in the serving and it will be excreted, we may find it is easily digested and works well.
The overall best option is to get a small bottle and put a scoop of powder in it, take it to the gym add water shake up and drink, like I mentioned above, cheap and easy.

I use some RTD shakes sometimes when I’m in a hurry or meal replacemets that come in the tins if i miss a meal, but like you said powdered protein mixed with milk/water is a hell of alot cheaper and more foten than not has a better nutritional profile!
