Because I am blind, I cannot learn new exercises by watching my trainer and he cannot show me what I am doing wrong, he has to tell me or demonstrate by physically making an adjustment.  For this reason, I endeavor to work with a trainer who can explain effectively an exercise and describe the postures and workings of the body that correspond to the proper execution of that exercise. I have found such a trainer in Rob, and as a result, working out with Rob is both productive and enjoyable. Indeed, I am convinced that training by ear with Rob is in certain respects more rewarding than training by sight. Through Rob’s careful instructions and my conscious effort to comprehend and implement them, I gain a greater understanding of the mechanics and purpose of an exercise than one would through visual imitation, I’d wager. I am not sporty, as Rob and Oli will both testify.  Im the type of person who drives to the postbox.  I had not done a stroke of exercise in 20 years since I was at school.  My husband ran the New York Marathon in 2004 and whilst I was supporting him and because the atmosphere was so electric I got it into my head that I should have a go once before I died.  In the subsequent years we had three kids and finally in 2011 before going back to work,  I got my window, my heart sank.  I googled my postcode and “personal trainer” and after looking at a few websites decided on “My Fitness Studio.”  I emailed Rob about what I wanted to achieve and he emailed me back instantly with a plan.  I knew I’d hit gold.  I met my trainer to be, Oli, and over the course of the next 7 months, he took me from scratch to marathon runner.  I completed the NY marathon in 4:30, crucially beating my husband’s time by 9 whole minutes.  Not much in life has given me more pleasure than that!  The naysayers said I’d get injured but Oli worked on my core and knee strength and I didn’t miss a beat.  Oli also worked on my nutrition as I am a not vegetable eating vegeatarian.  Oli and Rob have given me something no one can take away from me and for that I will always be greatful, thanks boys.

In January 2011 I decided to invest in personal training in preparation for my wedding in July and have been training with Rob and Oli ever since.  I was a bit nervous about the pressure of looking good on my wedding day so my objective was to both lose weight and tone up so I could feel confident and ensure I was happy with how I looked in my wedding pictures.  I chose My Fitness Studio W10 because of it’s flexible opening hours as I trained very early in the morning, it’s top class facilities and I also liked the privacy of a private gym.

At my 1st session Rob identified key areas for us to work on including my arms, thighs and bottom specifically how to make all of them slimmer and tighter.  I trained with Rob and Oli twice a week and saw huge changes in my body after just a couple of months.  My arms were noticeably toned and my bottom smaller and tighter.  The sessions are always varied targeting different areas, trying new exercises and both indoor and outdoor so I always felt like I was being challenged.  My fitness has improved dramatically since I have been training and I recently completed a half marathon which wouldn’t have been possible before my training.  The sessions were the right mix of fun and hard work and I enjoyed it so much that I couldn’t give up training with them after the wedding.

Oli also gave me great nutritional information to ensure my diet supported my training and weight loss goal.  By my wedding in July I had not only hit my weight loss target, I had toned up dramatically.  I felt in the best shape of my life and as a result I felt confident and happy in my dress.  That confidence really showed on the day and through my pictures and I’m so thankful to Oli and Rob for helping me achieve this.

Having a personal trainer is a great way to keep motivated as well, as they act like a coach, constantly encouraging you and pushing you to do better. Robert has also shown me the importance of a good, balanced diet and the right supplements in order to help build a strong, healthy body.

Now I’m well on the way to having the body I always wanted, and this has a knock-on effect of increased confidence, as well as many more modeling jobs that I may not have been offered if I still had the body of old.

Trainer Robert Bray tailors each session so that it is balanced between what I want to do, and his professional opinion of areas that need more / less work. His one-on-one approach means that the work I’m doing is a lot more focused and effective than if I was simply left to my own devices in a public gym.

I started training with Rob after I injured my anterior cruciate ligament playing football leaving me unable to walk. I regularly train at Virgin Active but after my injury I thought it would be very hard to train and moving around the gym was very difficult so going to Rob’s private gym and having professional advice on how to train around this injury really helped. I started training with Rob at Personal training studios a year ago when I found out it was just across the road from my office.
