Wim Hof starts writing for our blog

January 7th, 2010

With the terribly cold weather we are all experiencing at the moment I thought it would be interesting to hear the story of someone who puts himself in much colder conditions than we have at the moment, Wim Hof.  Wim Hof nicknamed “The Iceman” is a Dutch world record holder who withstands extreme cold.  Wim holds nine world records including the world record for longest ice bath.  In 2007 Wim Hof attempted climbing Mount Everest wearing only shorts but sadly failed.  In 2009 Wim ran 42km above the polar circle in Finland in -20c temperatures, wearing just shorts and sandals.  In 2008 Wim broke his own record by staying 1 hour 13 minutes in ice.  Wim has said he can withstand extreme temperatures by his ability to turn his own thermostat in his body up by control of his brain.  Wim Hof will be writing for the Personal trainers blog every few months giving us an insight into his diet, training and mental training.
